Our treatments
Acupuncture, Fu's Subcutaneous Needling and Chinese herbal medicine at the Women's Health Clinic, Clapham, London — what each one is and what a session involves.
Everything here draws on two traditions: the diagnostics of Western medicine, in which Dr Zhang is qualified, and the whole-person approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in which she is also qualified. Below is what each treatment actually is.
What we offer
- Acupuncture — very fine, sterile, single-use needles placed at chosen points and left in place while you rest. Most people find sessions deeply relaxing.
- Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling (Floating Acupuncture) — a modern needling technique that works in the loose tissue just under the skin, combined with simple guided movements.
- Chinese herbal medicine — personalised formulas of 8–16 herbs, made up for you as a traditional decoction, as concentrated granules, or as capsules.
- The Chinese medicine approach — how a TCM assessment works, and what to expect at a first visit.
Working with your doctors, not instead of them
We see complementary medicine as exactly that — complementary. Dr Zhang reads your test results, understands your consultant’s plan, and will never ask you to abandon or postpone conventional care. Where a conventional approach is what you need, she will say so.
Before you commit to a course of treatment
Please take independent medical advice first — from your GP or the consultant looking after you — particularly if you are pregnant, are taking prescribed medication, or are being treated for a diagnosed condition. We are always happy for you to come in for a single consultation and think about it afterwards.
